Fillers are cosmetic treatments used to restore volume to facial wrinkles and folds. At Barlow Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Dr. Barlow uses two kinds of fillers:
Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It is made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. Studies have shown that the effects of Restylane generally last for about eight months.
Sculptra® has been clinically proven to be an effective, well-tolerated, and long-lasting treatment for deep facial wrinkles and facial fat loss. Sculptra is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid,” which is biocompatible and biodegradable. It is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss to provide a gradual increase in skin thickness. Visible results will appear within the first few treatment sessions and will last for up to 2 years. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.
Are filler treatments right me?
After discussing your medical history and your desire for this procedure with Dr. Barlow, you and he will make a determination together if you should have filler treatments.

What should I expect?
Consultation
- Every procedure performed by Dr. Barlow begins with an in-depth consultation. After a short wait in our waiting area, you will be escorted into a spacious consultation room by a member of our staff. Our patient care coordinator will ask you a few questions about your past medical history.
- The primary goal of the consultation is to learn about you and your expectations for the procedure. You will discuss your medical history, goals for the surgery, and Dr. Barlow will answer any questions you may have.
- During your consultation, the doctor will also examine you carefully. Dr. Barlow will also give you more detailed information about filler treatments, and explain if this is the right treatment for you. This is all personalized for you, so you achieve exactly the look you want.
