Scheduling Your Surgery Date |

After your consultation with the doctor you will be introduced to our patient coordinator, Laura. Together you will go over a detailed quote that includes the surgeon’s fees and the operating room/anesthesia fees in more detail and she will answer any other questions you may have. Also, she can provide you with information about the various financing options available to you.
If you have a specific date in mind, Laura will do her best to accommodate your schedule, however, please keep in mind that the doctor is often booked out a month in advance. If you would like to go ahead and book your surgery, we require 10% deposit of the surgeon’s fees to hold your surgical date. You and Laura will decide on a date for surgery and a date for your preoperative appointment, which will be approximately one to two weeks prior to your surgery date.
If you are not quite ready to book your surgery, your consultation is complete and we look forward to hearing from you when you are. Laura is available to schedule your surgery by phone with a credit card deposit if you chose to do so at a later date, and can be reached for further questions at any time. Her most important role is to help you gather the information you need to make an informed decision about cosmetic plastic surgery.
We have a very comprehensive surgical packet that will be mailed to you after scheduling your surgery that addresses most questions you may have concerning the surgery process. We highly recommend reading it in its entirety, so that you will be well informed and prepared for your surgery.
On the day of your preoperative appointment, you will meet with Laura to go over the complete surgical process, sign your consent forms, pay your surgeon’s balance and be given your prescriptions. You will also meet with Dr. Barlow to go over the surgical procedures again and have him answer any questions you may have.
Dr. Barlow performs surgical procedures at Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Alexandria Hospital. Please keep in mind that you will see the doctor on the day of your surgery before any anesthesia is given, and you will have an opportunity to talk to him just prior to your surgery.
After the surgery, Sheila will call you to check on your progress. During the healing process, it is important to remember that Dr. Barlow and Sheila are always available help you in any way. A post operative appointment will be scheduled in order for you and Dr. Barlow to evaluate your progress.
