Wrinkles on the forehead can make you look old, tired, or worried, even when you are calm, rested, and at peace. To get rid of these wrinkles you can opt for cosmetic procedures. Here, we discuss how a brow lift can help remove the wrinkles you have and leave you looking your best.
A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure to raise the brows and improve the appearance of the forehead, the brow, and the area around the eyes. It does so by raiding the soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow.
Aging causes the skin to lose elasticity, leading to sagging brows and the formation of wrinkles, making you look different than how you feel. Consider a brow lift to raise the eyebrows and remove the wrinkles to achieve a more refreshed appearance.
There are different brow lift techniques you can choose from based on the results you desire. The technique will determine the location of the incisions and the resultant scars.
Endoscopic Brow Lift
In an endoscopic brow lift, multiple small incisions are made behind the patient’s hairline. An endoscope (a thin tube with a camera and light at the end) is inserted through the incisions to examine the underlying tissues.
Using another device inserted through the incisions, the forehead tissues are lifted and anchored in place. The incisions are then closed.
The endoscopic brow lift is less invasive than other brow lift options and hence causes limited scarring. For most patients, this would be a good choice.
Coronal Brow Lift
In a coronal brow lift, a single long incision is made behind the hairline across the top of the patient’s head spanning from one ear to the other. The forehead is lifted into a new position such that the scalp in front of the incision overlaps the scalp behind it. The scalp that overlaps is then removed and the remaining portion of the scalp is stitched together.
This is not suitable for people with high hairlines or thin hair due to the extent of the incision and the resulting post-surgical mark that’s left behind.
Hairline Brow Lift
In a hairline brow lift, an incision is made between the start of your hairline and the top of your forehead. A small amount of skin and tissue is removed from the forehead instead of the scalp, so the hairline remains intact.
Although suitable for someone with a high hairline, based on the healing, a post-surgical mark may be visible along the hairline.
The surgery normally takes about one to two hours.
Consult your doctor on how best to take care of your incisions. In the initial days after the brow lift: keep your head in an elevated position while resting, apply cold compresses to reduce swelling, and avoid subjecting your incisions to excessive pressure or movement.
The swelling might last several weeks. Your doctor will advise you on when you can resume normal activities like washing, drying your hair, and bathing. Although the incision lines fade over time, you can conceal any prolonged marks with makeup.
